History Rhymes, but never repeats. Some smart guy said this once, I'm gonna have to find out who. Either way, this is my blog. Personal & family stuff, as well as technical geeky stuff.

Saw the movie, was very good. I'm a bit confused as to the deeper meaning of the ending quote (which is very nice):

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.

I was always interested in what this plastic thingy does inside the Guiness cans and bottles. So I researched it - pretty neat thing. Interesting also is the fact that Guiness needs nitrogen for the bubbles, otherwise the bubbles would be bigger and the foam wouldn't be as smooth. I wanted to create random-looking URL-Parameters similar to the way YouTube does it. There you don't have a movie number in the URL, but rather something that looks pretty strange like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaSsAjdF-Bg, so the uaSsAjdF-Bg is somehow a number replacement. Here's what I discovered

An article explaining the .net randomizer, and the way you would retrieve a number after the other. I'll have to find out how many numbers are generated till it repeats, and if I can use the last random number as a seed to ensure I stay in the sequence.   A Wikipedia article explaining the Mersenne Twister, a algorithm that returns a heck of a lot of random numbers without repeating for a very, very long time. A open source / free .net class with a bunch of different randomizers, including fibonaci and mersenne twister. Another Marsenne Twister code for .net The .net Framework documentation explaining the...

Gesund und Munter! Photos unter Facebook oder auch auf der Seite von Léonie.

So, I guess I can't call myself a web pro, without ever having used facebook. So I guess I have to give it a try and hope I won't waste too much time.

Salak fruitIf you ever want to see a strange fruit, check out Salak. It's from Indonesia (also available in Malaysia), looks like it's wraped in snake skin and tastes like a mixture between apple and pinaple. My brother just brought me some from Bali, so I think I'll try to grow some here in Switzerland. Here's some links:

I'm creating a list of Must-Have Search providers for Internet Explorer. Though they are simple to create yourself, I always end up doing it over and over and over whenever I get a new PC. This sucks, so I made this list to use whenever I need it.
